Some eSIM plans require ID verification. What is that?
KYC stands for Know Your Customer - it's an identity verification process required by the government of certain countries before you can activate your eSIM.
This is not a Gohub requirement. It's a legal regulation in some destinations, designed to ensure the safety of user information and prevent illegal activity on local networks. Only a small number of plans on Gohub require KYC - you can identify them by the dark banner at the bottom of the plan card that reads ID verification required to activation

What does KYC involve?
The process typically takes 30 minutes to 1 hour and requires:
- A valid passport (full front photo including the code at the bottom - no obstructions, reflections, or shadows)
- A phone with both front and rear cameras
- A stable internet connection during the process
Important things to know before you fly:
- Complete your eSIM installation and KYC verification at least 2- 3 hours before your flight
- Once KYC is successfully verified on a device, the eSIM cannot be transferred to another device
Does KYC affect how I use the eSIM?
No. KYC is purely an identity verification step - once completed, your eSIM works exactly like any other plan with no additional restrictions on data, speed, or features. The only difference is that you need to verify your identity before the eSIM can be activated.
Every KYC-required plan on Gohub comes with a step-by-step verification guide in the Technical Details section of the plan page. If you run into any issues during the process, contact Gohub support via WhatsApp: +1 (302) 899-2888 or Email: cs@gohub.com.
