When does my eSIM plan start?

There are two important timelines to understand: when you need to activate your eSIM and when your plan's validity period begins.

Activation deadline

After purchasing, you have 30 days to install and activate your eSIM via QR code. If you don't activate within this window, the QR code will expire. Your activation deadline is displayed clearly on your eSIM details page after purchase.

When does the validity period start?

This depends on the specific plan - always check the Technical Details section before buying. There are two common policies:

  • Starts on installation - the validity period begins the moment you install the eSIM on your device, even if you haven't arrived at your destination yet. If you install early, your days will count down before you can use the data.

  • Starts on first network connection - the validity period begins when your eSIM connects to a supported network in the destination country. Installing early won't cost you any days.

Tip: To avoid losing validity days, we recommend installing your eSIM after you arrive at your destination, or checking your plan's specific policy in the Technical Details beforehand.

For Daily Data plans - when does each day reset?

If you're on a Daily Data plan, each day's data allowance resets according to a schedule that varies by plan:

  • 24-hour cycle - each day is counted as 24 hours from the moment you install the eSIM
  • Local midnight reset - each day resets at 11:59 PM local time of the destination country, regardless of when you installed the eSIM

The exact reset policy for your plan is listed in the Technical Details section.
