I don't see "Add eSIM" in my settings - what does that mean?
If you've followed the steps to check and the "Add eSIM" option isn't showing up, there are a few possible reasons:
1. Your device doesn't support eSIM
Not all phones have a built-in eSIM chip. If "Add eSIM" is missing, your device may simply not be eSIM-compatible.
2. Your device is carrier-locked (iPhone only)
On iPhone, a carrier-locked device may hide or disable the "Add eSIM" option entirely. Check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock - if it shows a carrier name instead of "No SIM restrictions", your phone is locked.
3. Your device was purchased in an unsupported region
Some phone models sold in certain countries ship without eSIM support, even if the same model sold elsewhere supports it. See: Does it matter where I bought my phone?
If none of the above apply and you're still unsure, contact your device manufacturer or the retailer where you purchased your phone for the most accurate confirmation.
