How many eSIMs can I store on one phone?

The exact number depends on your device - but most modern smartphones can store multiple eSIM profiles at the same time. Since eSIMs are entirely digital, there's no physical SIM tray limiting how many you can save.

DeviceeSIMs StoredeSIMs Active at Once
iPhone (recent models)8 or moreUp to 2
Android (Samsung, Pixel, Huawei, etc.)5 to 71-2 (varies by model)
Active vs. stored - what's the difference?
  • Stored = eSIM profiles saved on your device, like files you can turn on when needed
  • Active = the eSIM currently switched on and connected to a network

Only one eSIM can handle data at a time, regardless of how many are stored.

Why this matters for travelers

You can install eSIMs for multiple destinations before your trip and switch between them as you move from country to country - no need to buy a new plan on arrival. Just keep in mind that even when an eSIM is switched off, its validity period continues to count down.
