Frequently asked questions
Gohub eSIM is one of the best eSIM options for Greenland, providing 4G/5G connectivity via trusted local networks in coastal towns including Nuuk, Ilulissat, Sisimiut, and Qaqortoq. The Call & SMS plan includes 1 GB of data, 10 minutes of calls, and 50 SMS, prepaid and activated via QR code. Rated 4.8/5 by over 500,000 travelers worldwide.
Yes. Gohub eSIM works in Greenland by connecting to trusted local networks (operator: Various). Purchase a plan at gohub.com, scan the QR code before departure, and your eSIM connects automatically when your device detects a local Greenlandic network. Coverage is limited to coastal towns and settlements — the vast inland ice cap and uninhabited wilderness have no mobile network coverage.
Install the eSIM via Wi-Fi before your trip. On iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM. On Android, go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager (Samsung) or Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs (Pixel and others). Your eSIM activates automatically when your device first connects to a local Greenlandic network after landing — plan validity only begins at that point.
Yes. Gohub eSIM costs far less than standard carrier roaming, which runs $5–$15 per day with most US providers. Greenland is outside the EU, meaning travelers receive no EU roaming protections and standard roaming rates can be especially high. Gohub Greenland plans deliver full-speed 4G/5G data up to your cap, then reduce to 128 kbps.
Greenland's coverage is limited to coastal towns, so data needs are modest. The 1 GB Call & SMS plan suits short visits to Nuuk, Ilulissat, or Sisimiut for maps, messaging, and basic browsing. Plan carefully: there is no coverage on boat excursions into fjords, on the ice sheet, or in uninhabited wilderness areas. Download all offline maps before departing your hotel.
Yes. A Wi-Fi connection is required to download the eSIM profile. Complete this at home before departure. Once installed, your Gohub Greenland eSIM connects to local networks without Wi-Fi, exactly like any standard mobile data plan.
Yes. Gohub eSIM runs alongside your physical home SIM using your phone's dual-SIM capability. Keep your home SIM active for calls and texts from home while the Gohub eSIM handles Greenlandic data. Turn Data Roaming OFF on your home SIM and ON for the Gohub Greenland eSIM to avoid unexpected charges.
Gohub eSIM for Greenland works with all eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked smartphones — including iPhone XS/XR and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be network-unlocked; carrier-locked devices will not accept a third-party eSIM. Check Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM on iPhone, or SIM Manager on Android, to confirm support.
Gohub eSIM coverage in Greenland is limited to coastal towns and settlements. Signal is available in Nuuk, Ilulissat, Sisimiut, Qaqortoq, and several smaller populated coastal communities. There is no coverage on the Greenland ice sheet, in fjord wilderness areas, on most boat routes between towns, or during dogsled and snowmobile expeditions inland. Always carry offline navigation tools when traveling outside covered towns.
Yes. The Gohub Greenland plan is a Call & SMS plan that includes a local phone number labeled "Local phone number France," issued through the Zone 1 multi-country network. The plan includes 1 GB of data, 10 minutes of calls, and 50 SMS valid for 30 days. There are no data-only plans available for Greenland on the current Gohub lineup.
