Can You Follow Las Fallas Across Valencia Without Mobile Data?

Not easily. Las Fallas is not one stage. It is a city-wide exhibition of monuments that changes by the hour: the mascletà in Plaza del Ayuntamiento at 14:00, the Ofrenda columns moving up Calle de la Paz and Calle de San Vicente in the afternoon, fireworks castles over the Turia Garden near the Monteolivete bridge late at night, and on 19 March a Cremà that moves neighbourhood by neighbourhood through the evening 2. Seeing it means crossing the city on foot while streets close to cars and metro stations shut around the mascletà.

Losing signal in Plaza del Ayuntamiento at 13:55 can mean losing your group for the afternoon or missing the last useful tram after Nit del Foc. Set up mobile data before the flight, pack a charged power bank and download an offline map of Ciutat Vella and Russafa.

How Do You Show the Sección Especial Pass at Each Falla Fence?

On your phone. In 2026 the pass for the nine Sección Especial falla interiors arrived by email as a QR code that was scanned at each entrance 4. The fallas stand in different neighbourhoods, so you open the same code again and again across the day. Without data at the fence, you are scrolling through email in a queue while the gate staff wave the next group in.

Which Metro Station Stays Open During the Mascletà?

During the 2026 mascletàs, Xàtiva and Colón metro stations closed from 12:30 to 14:30, and the pedestrian passage to Alacant shut from 12:20 13. Live maps show you the walk from Alameda, Bailén, Plaça Espanya or Àngel Guimerà instead 13, and which streets the Ofrenda has closed that afternoon.

How Do You Find Your Group After the Turia Garden Castles?

After the castle fireworks over the Turia Garden, thousands of people pour onto the same bridges at once. Share your live location and agree on a meeting corner away from the riverbank. In 2026 Alameda station stayed open all night on castle nights 13, so a quick check of the next train beats waiting for a taxi that never comes.

How Do You Read Valencian Menus at Bunyol Stalls?

With your camera. Menus at bunyol stalls and casal tents are often written only in Valencian, so camera translation helps you tell bunyols de carabassa, the pumpkin fritters of falla week, from churros and pick the right cup of thick chocolate to dip them in.

When Is Las Fallas Valencia in 2027?

Las Fallas 2027 is expected to run from Monday 1 March to Friday 19 March 2027 in Valencia, with the main festival days from 15 to 19 March 18. The schedule does not move with the moon or Easter. It is anchored to 19 March, the feast of Saint Joseph, patron saint of carpenters, and carpenters once burned the planks that held their winter candles when spring arrived 18. Each year the daily mascletà runs from 1 to 19 March, the Ofrenda falls on 17 and 18 March and the Cremà on the night of 19 March 18.

The city and the Junta Central Fallera have already taken some decisions for the 2027 edition. The Ofrenda stays at two days, 17 and 18 March 2027, after a proposal for a third day fell 15 votes short of the two-thirds majority it needed 11. Valencia's school board made 16 March 2027 a non-school day, so plantà week will be busier with local families 11. Casal tents can go up from 11 March 2027, and street bands are allowed on 13 and 15 to 18 March 2027 8. Mojito stalls will not be authorised in the streets in 2027 8.

Still to be published in the official programme, with the last edition as a reference:

  • The Crida: the opening speech from the Torres de Serranos, held on Sunday 22 February in 2026 2.

  • The Exposició del Ninot: in 2026 it ran from 7 February to 15 March at the Science Museum in the City of Arts and Sciences 16.

  • Exact Cremà times: in 2026 the children's fallas burned at 20:00 and the City Hall falla at 23:00 2.

The weekday pattern matters for planning: 19 March 2027 is a Friday, so the Cremà flows straight into a weekend, and the plantà night of 15 to 16 March starts on a Monday. In 2026, the busiest hotel night was 18 to 19 March, at 76.7 percent occupancy one week before the festival 7.

Tip: If you only have two days, take 18 and 19 March. You get the second Ofrenda day, Nit del Foc and the Cremà, and the fallas are standing on both days.

What Does the Sección Especial Falla Pass Cost?

The only ticket most visitors buy at Las Fallas is the pass for the Sección Especial falla interiors; the street monuments, the mascletà in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the Ofrenda, the fireworks castles and the Cremà are all free to watch. What you pay for is a closer view. Each falla stands inside a low fence, and for the top category you pay to step inside it.

For Fallas 2026, a digital pass gave access to the interiors of all nine Sección Especial fallas from 16 to 19 March, in any order 4. It cost 17 EUR for adults and 12 EUR for children aged 4 to 12, arrived by email and was scanned from your phone at each entrance 4. By early March 2026 the sales page already showed only the last units 4, so buy as soon as the next pass appears. The official sales link is listed in the sources below.

Other paid extras around the festival, with the last edition's prices:

  • Exposició del Ninot: 4 EUR for adults and 2 EUR for children aged 4 to 12 and over-65s in 2026 16. Your visit includes a vote for the ninot indultat, the one figure spared from the flames and moved to the Fallas Museum 18.

  • Guided falla walks: from 19 EUR in 2026, about 2 hours 30 minutes, with entry to three fallas 1.

  • Mascletà balconies: one rooftop package over Plaza del Ayuntamiento listed by Visit València cost 100 EUR Monday to Thursday and 140 EUR at weekends and from 16 to 19 March 2026, with a cocktail menu from 12:30 to 14:30 9.

  • Valencia Tourist Card: from 17 EUR in 2026, covering metro, tram and bus plus museum discounts 1.

  • Bullfights at the Plaza de Toros, such as the 17:00 corrida on 19 March 2026 10.

How Do You Reach Plaza del Ayuntamiento From Valencia Airport?

Take the metro: Aeroport station sits under the terminal at Valencia airport in Manises and is the end of line 3 and line 5, with trains every 15 to 20 minutes reaching the centre in about 20 minutes 6. A single airport ticket cost 4.80 EUR plus a rechargeable card from 1.10 EUR in 2026 6. Get off at Xàtiva for Plaza del Ayuntamiento or Colón for the shopping streets, except at mascletà time.

Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the triangular square in front of Valencia City Hall at 39.4698 N, 0.3773 W 17, but the festival spreads across every neighbourhood. The mascletà and the municipal falla are in the square; the nine Sección Especial fallas 4 are spread across neighbourhoods such as Russafa, the Eixample and Ciutat Vella; the castles are fired from the Turia Garden near the Monteolivete bridge, at the height of the Palau de les Arts 3.

During Fallas 2026 the metro and tram ran nonstop for 168 hours, from 13 March to the early hours of 20 March, with 13,387 scheduled trips 12. EMT night bus lines doubled their frequency and ran without a break from 15 to 20 March 2026 12.

How to move around Valencia during falla week:

  • Walk inside the centre. Streets around Plaza del Ayuntamiento close to cars, and the fallas of Ciutat Vella and Russafa are easiest to link on foot.

  • Avoid Xàtiva and Colón at mascletà time. Use Alameda, Bailén, Plaça Espanya or Àngel Guimerà instead; both stations closed from 12:30 to 14:30 during the 2026 mascletàs 13.

  • For the castles, use tram line 10 to Ciutat Arts i Ciències Justícia, or Alameda station, which stayed open all night on castle nights in 2026 13.

  • From Madrid, high-speed trains run to Valencia Joaquín Sorolla station, a short walk from Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Arriving from outside Europe, sort out entry before the fare. Travellers who need a Schengen visa, including Vietnamese passport holders, must apply before travel; for a tourist visa the Spanish Embassy in Hanoi asks for a passport valid at least three months after you leave the Schengen area, with at least two blank pages, issued within the last ten years 19. The EU Entry/Exit System records fingerprints and a face photo at Schengen borders, so allow extra time at passport control in Manises.

Tip: After Nit del Foc on 18 March 2026, the passage between Xàtiva and Alacant stations was closed from 22:00 to 02:00 13. Walk towards Colón or Alameda instead of following the crowd into Xàtiva.

How Does the Fallas Programme Build to the Cremà on 19 March?

The Las Fallas programme builds from a daily midday mascletà in early March to five dense days from 15 to 19 March, ending with the Cremà. The times below are from the 2026 programme.

1 to 19 March, 14:00 daily. The mascletà fires in Plaza del Ayuntamiento 2. It is a rhythmic barrage of ground-level firecrackers designed to be felt rather than seen, ending in an earthquake-like finale called the terratrèmol.

15 March, plantà. Children's fallas go up from 9:00 on 15 March and the main fallas from 8:00 on 16 March 5. The night of 15 to 16 March, called L'Alba de les Falles, had night mascletàs around the city and a 23:59 display in the square in 2026 2. Walk the streets that night to see cranes lowering the last ninots into place.

16 to 18 March, castles. Fireworks castles fire over the Turia Garden by the Monteolivete bridge, and the one on 18 March is Nit del Foc, the largest of the week 3. In 2026 each castle started at 23:59 2.

17 and 18 March, Ofrenda. Columns of falleros in traditional dress walk to Plaza de la Virgen to offer flowers to the Virgin of the Forsaken, whose giant wooden frame is filled with bouquets to form her cloak 1. In 2026 the parade ran from 15:30 until around 01:00 on both days 1. In 2027 it stays at two days 11.

19 March, Saint Joseph's Day. The 2026 timetable 10:

  • 11:00 flower offering at the Puente de San José

  • 12:00 solemn mass at Valencia Cathedral

  • 14:00 last mascletà

  • 19:00 Cabalgata del Fuego, the fire parade from Calle de la Paz to Porta de la Mar 2

  • 20:00 Cremà of the children's fallas, 21:00 the City Hall children's falla

  • 22:00 Cremà of all main fallas, 22:30 the Sección Especial winner

  • 23:00 the City Hall falla in Plaza del Ayuntamiento

Best viewing spots: arrive in Plaza del Ayuntamiento at least an hour before the mascletà, or stand on Calle de San Vicente or Avenida Marqués de Sotelo where you hear it without the crush. For the Ofrenda, Calle de la Paz is less packed than Plaza de la Virgen. For the castles, the Turia Garden between the Reino and Monteolivete bridges fills first 3.

Note: Mascletàs can be cancelled for wind or rain. One 2026 mascletà was called off for weather and moved to a night show on 2 May 2026 8.

What Is Mid-March Like in Valencia During Falla Week?

Mid-March in Valencia means mild, mostly dry days, cool nights and crowds that build towards the Cremà, so 16 to 19 March is the best stretch: the fallas are standing, the Ofrenda, castles and Nit del Foc fill the evenings, and the Cremà closes the festival. Arrive by 15 March if you want the plantà night as well. If crowds worry you, the first two weeks of March still have the daily mascletà at 14:00 in Plaza del Ayuntamiento 2 and far fewer people.

Across 1938 to 2017, the week of 15 to 19 March averaged highs of 19.1 C and lows of 8.8 C in Valencia 15. In half of those years there was not a single day of measurable rain during the week, and the week averaged about 7.5 hours of sunshine a day 15. In some years a dry westerly wind gusted above 60 km/h 15, which is exactly what grounds a mascletà.

Crowd level by period, on a 1 to 5 scale:

  • 1 to 12 March: 2 out of 5. Mascletà crowds at lunchtime, quiet evenings.

  • 13 to 15 March: 4 out of 5. Weekend arrivals and the plantà; hotel occupancy reached about 73 percent on the night of 14 to 15 March 2026 7.

  • 16 to 17 March: 4 out of 5. Fallas complete, Ofrenda and castles.

  • 18 to 19 March: 5 out of 5. The peak; 18 to 19 March was the busiest hotel night in 2026 at 76.7 percent 7.

How early to arrive for each moment:

  • Mascletà: at least an hour before 14:00 for a spot inside the square.

  • Ofrenda: well before the column you want passes, on Calle de la Paz rather than the plaza.

  • Castles: an hour before the 23:59 start used in 2026, on the Turia Garden lawns 2.

  • Cremà: pick a neighbourhood falla and arrive by 21:30; the City Hall falla needs much longer.

Pack earplugs for everyone, broken-in closed shoes, a warm layer for midnight and a compact rain jacket, and avoid synthetic fabrics near the Cremà, where sparks fly.

Tip: Keep your mouth slightly open during the mascletà finale. It eases the pressure on your ears, and locals do it out of habit.

Which Valencia Neighbourhood Lets You Sleep Through the Despertà?

Benimaclet, Campanar and the Cabanyal beach side are where you can sleep through the despertà, the dawn firecracker wake-up call of falla week, while Ciutat Vella and Russafa put you in the middle of it. Book as soon as your dates are fixed: in 2026 travellers booked an average of 69 days ahead for the 15 to 19 March period, up from 65 days the year before 14.

One week before Fallas 2026, average hotel occupancy in Valencia for 13 to 19 March stood at 67 percent, with an average room rate of 166 EUR per night and 179 EUR on 14 March, the dearest night 7. Tourist apartments sat at 60.7 percent 7. A separate industry analysis put the average rate during the key days of Las Fallas 2026 at 276 EUR per night, 21 percent above the March 2026 average of 228 EUR 14. The two figures measure different samples, so expect something between them for a central double room in 2027.

Where to stay depends on how much noise you can sleep through:

  • Ciutat Vella and around Plaza del Ayuntamiento: walk to the mascletà, the Ofrenda and the City Hall falla, but firecrackers start at dawn with the despertà and the streets stay loud past 02:00.

  • Russafa: several top fallas and street light displays on your doorstep, plenty of cafés, and just as loud as the old town.

  • El Carmen: old lanes with small fallas and bars, close to Plaza de la Virgen for the Ofrenda.

  • Benimaclet, Campanar or the Cabanyal beach side: quieter and usually cheaper, linked by metro or tram, which ran nonstop during Fallas 2026 12.

  • Near the City of Arts and Sciences: convenient for the castles and Nit del Foc, a longer walk to the old town.

Before you pay, check the cancellation terms, any minimum stay and whether windows are double-glazed.

Tip: A room near a metro or tram stop two or three stations out from Xàtiva is often the best trade-off. You sleep through the despertà and still reach the square for 14:00.

Will Your Phone Work in Plaza del Ayuntamiento During the Mascletà?

Expect it to slow down: when the crowd packs Plaza del Ayuntamiento before the 14:00 mascletà, square hotspots and even mobile cells struggle, and the same happens after Nit del Foc and during the Cremà. Do not rely on public Wi-Fi during Las Fallas. During Fallas 2026 the metro alone was forecast to carry close to three million passengers in the core week 12, which gives a sense of how many phones share the same towers.

What you will use your phone for in Valencia during falla week:

  • Maps: detours around closed stations and Ofrenda routes, and the walk back from the Turia Garden.

  • Tickets: the Sección Especial QR pass 4.

  • Translation: menus and notices in Valencian and Spanish.

  • Group calls and live location: regrouping after the mascletà or castles.

Maps, messages and QR tickets need little data; filming the mascletà, the castles and the Cremà every day is what uses it up. If you want data from the moment you land, a Spain eSIM installed at home over Wi-Fi does that, and your home SIM can stay on for bank codes.

Your phone is also what pickpockets want in the mascletà crush. Keep it and your wallet in a zipped bag worn in front, especially in Plaza del Ayuntamiento and on Calle de la Paz. Stand back from anyone lighting firecrackers, never pick up one that did not go off, and keep children well behind the safety fences at the Cremà, where firefighters hose down nearby buildings. The emergency number is 112, free from any mobile phone in the EU 20.

Tip: Save your accommodation address and an agreed meeting point in your phone notes and on paper. If the network stalls after the Cremà, you can still find your way back.

Frequently asked questions

Choose Thursday 18 and Friday 19 March 2027. The 18th has the second Ofrenda day and Nit del Foc, the biggest fireworks castle, fired over the Turia Garden 3; in 2026 it started at 23:59 2. The 19th ends with the Cremà: in 2026 the children's fallas burned at 20:00 and the City Hall falla at 23:00 2. Both days also have the 14:00 mascletà.

At 14:00, every day from 1 to 19 March 2. Arrive at least an hour before for a spot inside the square, or stand on Calle de San Vicente or Avenida Marqués de Sotelo to hear it without the crush. Do not plan on Xàtiva or Colón metro stations: both closed from 12:30 to 14:30 on mascletà days in 2026 13.

The columns of falleros come in along Calle de la Paz and Calle de San Vicente, then end in Plaza de la Virgen, where their bouquets fill the giant wooden frame of the Virgin of the Forsaken's cloak 1. In 2026 the parade ran from 15:30 until around 01:00 on 17 and 18 March 1. Calle de la Paz is less packed than the plaza.

On the Turia Garden lawns between the Reino and Monteolivete bridges, near the Palau de les Arts, where the castles are fired 3. That stretch fills first, so arrive an hour early. In 2026 Nit del Foc started at 23:59 on 18 March 2. Afterwards walk to Alameda, which stayed open all night on castle nights in 2026 13.

Yes, if you want to see the top fallas up close. In 2026 the pass cost 17 EUR for adults and 12 EUR for children aged 4 to 12, and covered the interiors of all nine Sección Especial fallas from 16 to 19 March, in any order 4. Without it you still see every falla from behind the fence for free.

Yes. Visitors to the Exposició del Ninot vote for the figure that will be spared, the ninot indultat, which then goes to the Fallas Museum 18. In 2026 the exhibition ran from 7 February to 15 March at the Science Museum in the City of Arts and Sciences, with entry at 4 EUR for adults 16.

Maps, QR passes and messages use little data, but uploading video of the mascletà, the castles and the Cremà every day uses far more, so allow for a larger plan if you post clips from Plaza del Ayuntamiento or the Turia Garden.
